Videotaped my check engine light going bonkers while driving down the road. Can't tell if it's random or if it's trying to spit out a code?
Truck shudders a bit at cruise, around 55mph. Sometimes surges at idle. Otherwise runs fine... Can anyone tell if it's actually flashing a code or not? Pulled an EGR and TPS code with the engine off.
My truck does something similar. I don't remember the codes I pulled, but the CEL will flash when accelerating, but tends to not flash while coasting, or at steady throttle. I know I'm only running on 7 cylinders, so I believe the misfire is flashing the light. I think the flashing is telling you that there is something happening at that time and it may set a code, it is detecting an error and letting you know. Pull the codes and see what it tells you.

Thats what I'm starting to think too. Last time I checked the codes it said TPS voltage was low and something with the EGR position sensor. I cleaned the throttle body and it idles better, will probably start swapping sensors at this point. Thanks for your input
Both the TPS and EGR sensor can be tested . Suggest doing before throwing money at it . What year truck engine and tranny ?
I have tested them. Tried going through this on another thread until the keyboard mechanics on this forum decided to somehow turn it into a "what is a C6 transmission" thread. Would rather throw money at it and figure it out myself than waste my time repeating myself over and over here.
Your timing is too far advanced and your vehicle has officially entered a realm called "Limp Mode"...Take pics of how you have your distributor set and post them........
Turn the distributor back to 10* BTDC then reset timing limits by pulling spout connector starting truck bringing up to operating temps while under a load then turn off load shutdown engine reinstall spout connector restart truck and drive easy 10 miles before you fry your ringlands..
Youll also have to do an EEC bleed down by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes aswell before you introduce a load to do a load calibration doing a 2min idle with everything turned on and to the max to sync sensors to the eec aswell and then turn off all load turned on to introduce load to go out and moderately drive your truck 10 miles to set spark and fuel tables in the EEC......
You may need to replace the TFI module or the distributor due to faulty halls effect pickup too from being compromised from being thermally overloaded........

Based on what? Did you see or read something in this thread that I haven’t?

Somewhere I missed your other thread guess you ask for help and get upset with answers . I've been a Ford mechanic for 50+ years without a keyboard .
