Monday morning I started at 19%. I pulled my mini x and it went down to 14% by time I got home. Total of about 150 miles and about 45 minutes idle time. No active regen. Tuesday I started at 14%, did about 150 miles total with about an hour idle time. The soot level fluctuated between 14-12%. All of my 6.7’s (2012,2015,2017,2019) always made soot daily. They averaged between 150 miles in Sumer and 300 miles in winter distance between regens. This truck is staying at 496 average. To me its unusual and wasn’t paying attention until yesterday, when I noticed. It finally kicked into regen before I got home. You can see in pic the bottom numbers are egt 1 and egt 3 are low so you know it just started, at 15%. At this point if ford hadn’t programmed a regen every 500 miles I would not be experiencing regens. Wonder if they changed the programming for the 22’s? It’s also averaging higher in mpg. For instance my 2019 stayed at an all time average of 13.7 mpg, this truck is doing 16.8. This is combined towing/idling/regens and all. Both trucks I could reset and get higher on trips but for real world average I leave one of the trips alone, all though this truck I can average 19-20 pretty easy on a trip, past trucks 16-17. Just an observation.
here’s pics of yesterdays regen start and mpg average.
nothing has changed in my driving habits. I do drive more than the average person so regens used to be an almost daily, every other day occurrence.
It's pretty thirsty for DEF when you're hauling. If you're unloaded it's not bad at all. I think it's a good change - I would rather have less EGR usage and more DEF usage.
interesting,
my 2021 runs very cool as well, empty and at 65 to 75 mph
once i get over 75 it gets a bit hotter
egt 13 is the dpf in my pic.
i can get passive regen on highway after a few hrs. but in town it generally slowly climbs to 65 or more percent then will do an active regen around 95%
DEF usage seems pretty consistent with the range on the def gauge, imo. i have not towed heavy yet so i have no comparison on that
i have added a total of 5 gallons over its 5700 miles. 70% or so has been highway
I think I remember 3-4 obvious regens in 12,000 miles. That’s it. It must be getting done passively, or not a lot of soot. DEF is an after treatment, but it is allowing a lot less engine killing EGR. Emissions equipment on diesels has come a long way.
Tuning is spot on and I’m sure the 10 speed that keeps the engine in the sweet spot is part of the reason.
