Hello, f.n.g. here. I have an opportunity to buy this truck and at first I was excited about it, but since inspecting it more closely, I'm now having serious doubts and reservations. Some backstory: A good friend acquired this truck and thought it would be a good project for him and his adult stepson. They got some work done on it, like replacing the front and rear brakes, parking brake cables, a new carburetor, ignition components, and a few other little things, but there was a falling out between them and its been sitting in his shop ever since. Unfortunately some of the "work" done to the truck had to be undone, like the rats nest of brake lines the stepson ran into the cab and tried to incorporate a couple of cheap line locks (but didn't use the correct tube nuts, didn't flare the lines correctly, and cracked the fittings on the line locks, leaking a nasty mess of brake fluid...). I got to spend some quality time under the truck yesterday when I bent new lines from the master to the proportioning valve and some things caught my attention. I went back today to take a closer look, and I was more and more disappointed with what I found. I was told I could put the truck to work right away, but the condition of a lot of stuff says otherwise. One big thing was he told me it has a wheel lift, but it doesn't - that's important because another friend offered me work hauling cars to and from the auctions for his dealership because it had a wheel lift... Without a wheel lift, that offer no longer exists. There's a lot of hinky stuff about this truck... The door tag says it's supposed to have a Dana 70, but the rear axle that's in the truck is not a Dana 70. The rear shocks are missing, as is one of the shock brackets on the axle. It needs all sorts of bushings and things, the right front coil spring has a bunch of spacers shoved in it... The hydraulic pump is plumbed funny, and the passenger side exhaust pipe is resting on the rigged up pump output. There's random rust, none of which seems to be too bad, save for one brace that's perforated. I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking. Well, I *would* let the photos speak for themselves but something with this website isn't working.
I give up. I keep trying to upload photos and all I get is a useless message that only says "alert". That's some sophisticated forum software you guys got here...
I'll take it as a sign from the universe to just forget this heap and move on.
Maybe resize to 640 or 800 pixels max width, using paint. Too large screws up on mine too, but befor posting I resize them. Then they just zip right in.
