My father-in-law came down to visit for Thanksgiving. He has a bare bones XLT. My buddy sold him a pair of side mirrors with the blinkers and heated mirror. After swapping them, everything works with the exception of the heated part of the mirror. We found somewhere that you have to have a heated rear glass in order for the heated mirrors to work. My father-in-law does not have a heated rear glass. Does anyone know if this is required? What triggers the heated mirrors to turn on? FYI, the windshield defrost on full blast did not turn on the heated mirrors.
Heated mirrors on my work pickup which is a 21 XL are controlled by the heated mirror button on the HVAC controls. My pickup does not have heated rear glass. The pickup actually turns them on itself at times when you first start it up. I don't ever have to turn them on myself.
