Just purchased my 2015 Platinum and am loving it. My neighbor has one as well and I noticed that his rear leafs don't have the wedge that is forcing one of the springs apart from the rest of the pack. Mine seems to be an aftermarket thing but I'm not sure what it's function is. Does it make the ride stiffer or softer? Can anyone help educate me please?
That's what that is, had them on my 2012 F250 engaged like shown in picture with over 200k mile always had weight in the truck. I didn't have over loads. It helped keeping the truck from having a saggy rear end.
I would recommend dis-engageing them for z better ride
Agreed. When mine were engaged while unloaded, the ride was BAD.
jisbell007 , if they won't just swing when you pull the pins out and are wedged in, you just put a jack under your hitch receiver and raise the rear until they are free. It shouldn't take much.
