Loose connection

Ever since I bought my 1966 f100 on occasion my brake lights and turn signals won’t work so one frustrating day later on turned my signals on and nothing happened so I started jiggling wires under the dash and when I move the harness going into the fuse box my turn signals and brake lights worked, have any of you had this problem and what the fix? New fuse block? Maybe re-solder it?

The answer lies in, where the loose connection is. Check the fuseholder and see if the clips are loose. If so, they can be squeezed together to hold the fuse tigher. Its not likely that the wire has come loose from the connection to the box, since they're riveted. Also check the length of wire to be sure there isn't a bad splice in it somewhere. Just because you're wiggling it at the fuse box, doesn't mean that the bad connection is there....

the fuse holders are all tight it only does it when I move it right at the box and the wiring is all original nothing has ever been added or cut still has fomoco tags on it

therein you more than likely isolated the probable cause. Thereupon it’s taking a closer look and seeing where within lies the culprits. Could be a cracked box, broken rivet, broken wire, debris, oxidation, old wire insulation cracked or worn, a short, bad connectivity you name it.

fuse holder

Alot of time I have found that the fuse holder gets oxidized on the older cars. You can`t always see it but if you pull the fuse and clean the fuse and the holder it will work like new.

I would remove the screws that hold the fuse panel to the firewall and look behind it to see what’s up....

I am chasing a brake light and blinker problem also, anyways the blinker and blinker switch has a connection with the brake lights. The same power source goes through both and if the blinker is on when you hit the brakes, the blinker is shut down and the brakes light stays lit bright. So perhaps when you have the failure again move the blinker switch up and down or gently wiggle the harness coming out of the column and see if that helps with diagnoses.
