Ford = Flareside .. a Stepside is a Chevrolet

You need to look at other 1964's, because the grille was not all white. Black paint was used in specific areas to make the grille appear to float.

I don't have personal pictures of 1961/66 grilles that show the black paint. LMC isn't Ford Motor Company.

The eight rectangles within the grille appear to float, because the area surrounding them was painted black.

There was also black paint surrounded the headlamp doors. I typed F100 on google, then clicked on IMAGES. color pics show up, but many grilles were never painted or the paint has worn off from age.

edit: There's a white 1964 F100 4WD with a white grille that has the black paint in the correct locations. Was posted by bringatrailer.com

My grill is faded a bit so I put arrows in some of the black areas. Hope this helps you. ~Pat

The "floating rectangles" usually disappear after a repaint or sun bleaching fades away over time on an original. Ford used this black trim technique on all '61-'66 grilles. Note how the replaced right turn signal lens compares to the original left turn signal lens. No rust on edge of hood or rain gutters and steering wheel is solid with no cracks, no black showing under the nice original beige when photo taken in the mid 80's at auction. '64-'66 steering wheel color was color coordinated to interior trim and or outside exterior color.

Nice work on your Stepside (Flareside) !!
I am not a verbally-correct individual WTF (wow that's Fantastic) type, so i like using Stepside because of the "Step" ahead of the rear fender.
But, when looking for parts for the early Ford pickups, most vendor's do use the term "Flareside", which I was always very confused about. A stepside box regardless of mfr does have a step.

A few months back I purchased a '62 shortbed stepside-box (Flareside per Ford lingo) which has a '64 grill. I contacted a seller on Craigslist with a '61 front wrap for sale. Geesh he wants $1,200 for it.
For whatever reason, I just have difficulty contemplating spending $1,200 for fenders and hood needing repair, and would be a 5-hour drive south just to go look and inspect. Ugh.

I thought some forum peeps might like seeing a stout rear bumper. It needs cleanup.
