Hey guys need some help. I have a 2003 F350 with the 7.3 L. I have an issue that has just started since it has gotten cold. When I start the truck in the morning, the radio and the power windows do not work. It is roughly a 10 mile drive to work. Once I get to work, if I shut the truck off and restart all is well!!! When I get off work it may or may not work right depending on how much it warms up during the day. Not sure where or how to start diagnosing the problem. The truck has 218,000 miles on it and is stock other than a 4 inch exhaust. Thanks for any help.
It might be the Accessory Delay Relay, or bad solder joints on that relay. On your '03, it's on the instrument panel. Below is a thread on a possible repair method.
Shadows, my 03 had these symtoms. I used a 6" pc of wire or jumper on the fuse panel. I sold that truck a few yrs ago or i could tell you fuse loc #s.
I googled the 03 fuse panel and the accessory delay fuse is #42. I cant confirm this 100% but i had to fix this one day several yrs ago and this worked for me.
What i understand is that the accesory delay thinks the accessories should be off as it has timed out. When it times out your accessories on that fuse are not powered. You can asses this with a meter. No power to fuse #42. So i ran my jumper from a open spot to that fuse location. That jumper stayed in that truck for 8-10 yrs. Well its still in that truck afaik.
The only drawback i can think of is security maybe? Your window switch and radio will be powered up at all times. I just had to remember to turn my radio off.
Thanks for the help guys. Ended up being the main relay under the dash. I have a Cyclops anti theft device and the relay for it, replaces that relay. That relay has given up the ghost. I put the original relay back in and all is well now. Thanks again.
