No heat

Please help shops around here are backed up for weeks, and I need this fixed or at least halfway working till it can be fixed. 2014 explorer with the 3.5. No heat at idle and even while driving sometimes. Have replaced the thermostat and refilled cooling system couple times and burped it. Made no change. It seems like it's half stuck on heat and ac. I would appreciate any ideas on what to check or look out for

Insufficient information provided.

Have you checked the temperatures of the heater hoses (when failed) to see whether or not you have hot coolant circulating? Without this prerequisite, the rest of the system cannot perform.
Manual or dual automatic system?
With or without the auxiliary system for the rear? If yes, does it work properly or does it fail in tandem with the front?
Does the blower function correctly or not?

The '96 Ranger I had, had a vacuum operated control valve in the engine bay, that diverted coolant to the cabin. Check to see if you have one and that it is operating.

The 2014 explorer doesn't have any such valve. Ford hadn't used those valves for about a decade before his SUV was built.

Did you try backflushing the heater core? Just an idea.. If you do be careful not to blast it with high hose pressure.
