Just remember that using e85 will result in approximately 25% lower MPG. If the cost of it isn't 25% or more lower than whatever fuel you're normally running it won't be worth it cost wise.
If you are happy with the 5.4 you’ll be thrilled with the 5.0 and 10spd. The flex fuel means nothing unless you want to use E85 - if you don’t, you can run it on regular gas forever and it won’t make any difference at all.
The 5.0 will run up to capacity no problem. The 3.5TT will outpull it with a heavy load in the mountains, and is rated higher because of it. But both have been shown to pull their rating no problem. I can vouch that mine will over more than 6k miles towing 5k+ of travel trailer.
As others have said, the motors both do the job, but do it differently. If you are afraid of revving a motor, go 3.5TT. If you aren’t afraid of running a motor as designed, either will be great.

Correct but who buys a truck with fuel economy in mind? I bought a truck to tow, haul and work/commute. Pointless to think about economy when one is using a truck as it was intended to be used by the engineers.
For me using E85 and a custom tune = more SPM (smiles per mile) as opposed to MPG. When I tip into the skinny pedal and that Borla exhaust tells me why I'm pinned to the seat it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
I had a 76 F100 with a 390 big block, 4bbl Holley and a c6 3spd trans that was fun as hell to drive, got 9mpg all day every day. Now I've got the same thing with more creature comforts and reliability but I get 10 mpg.

I will agree if you're tuned for it on both SPG and MPG but in stock form I look at it as a total waste of $$ since you won't notice anything but a lighter wallet.
