Trans/Diff Oils

Hi everyone, I picked up my first F100 yesterday, a 1966 4x4 V8 with Dana 60.2/3 rear and NP435 trans. Question I have is the recommended lubricants. Looking over the service/owner manual, it states the following:
Transfer Case (Dana 21) and NP435 trans: Engine Oil SAE 50
Front/rear diffs: SAE 90 Hypoid Gear Lubricant
Steering gearbox: SAE 90 EP Oil

Could I run Sta-Lube Multi-Purpose/Hypoid Gear Oil 85W90 (GL4) in transfer/trans/diffs, or do I need another lube with friction modifier for the limited slip diffs? Is this a suitable replacement for the SAE 50 engine oil?

Can the steering gearbox just use a moly based chassis grease (NLGI 1)?

Thanks!
Brent

Stick with the 90wt in all the boxes. I don't know why you would need to add to the steering box unless it's leaking. If so it would need repair or replacement.

Check the labeling on the StaLube. Mine says safe for soft metals. Some Hypoids have chemicals that will eat your synchros.

Stick with conventional oils, non synthetic. Many say that the synthetics will find leaks or leak more so than the conventional oils. The Dana 60's have clutch packs and will require a lube with a friction modifier. The trans will require an MTF lube. The MTF lube will not harm the synchros..

Thanks everyone!

I checked the StaLube label and it says "GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil has low pour points and high temp properties to provide lubrication over a wide temperature range. It is not corrosive to copper, bronze, or other non-ferrous alloy bearings and bushings."
So it sounds like I can use this in the transfer case and transmission?

For the differentials, since they are limited slip, I have some Lucas SAE 80w-90 gear oil which states "Excellent for use in limited slip differentials". Sounds like this should be fine in the Dana 44 and Dana 60.2/3 diffs?

Edit: all these lubes I have or am considering are conventional, non synthetic, oils.

My 2cents: I have a T-18 and a Dana 24 T-case.
I did find that synthetic did leak a bit. I've switched back to conventional.
I like the SAE 50wt in both. I tried 85w/90. I found that the 50wt shifts easier/better. I also like to follow mfg specs, since they did the engineering.
Your Lucas may still need added modifier, even though it's "excellent" for limited slip

Wayne, definitely appreciate the feedback. Trucks are new to me and I'm not trying to go against what Ford recommended, however, I couldn't find any SAE 50 Engine Oil locally. Any particular brand SAE 50 oil I should try for the trans/transfer case?

I use this basic valvoline 50 wt. I forget if I ordered it online, or found it at a local store - But I think it is fairly available.
