I recently acquired a 1977 F-100 Custom, 351 V8 in North Carolina. I was provided a bag of parts and these two parts were included. Wondering if anyone recognizes what these parts are. They appear to be related based on the ball-chain switch connection. Thoughts?
Wondering if it is part of a throttle cruise control system? I found the below thread and there is something vaguely familiar about that ball chain. My truck, indeed, has a non-operative cruise control (Sears) that came as an option when the truck was purchased in 1977. Anyone seen one of these configurations in the wild? Am I on the right track?
That big thing is for a fact the cruise control throttle pull ... or vacuum servo ... almost exactly like that which is on my '77, it was a Sears Cruis Control kit. I put one on a Chevedlle too. Mine still works, was actually made by DANA, there'll be a magnet likely on the driveshaft passing a magnetic pick up measures speed, and the plastic guide with chain and two wires to a switch with vacuum port was mounted to the interior firewall and was used to interupt power and kill vacuum if you touched the brake or clutch to kick it "off". If a clutch, the chain looped through the guide and hooked to the clutch pedal arm. If automatic trans, the chain was secured at the firewall with a simple cotter pin in a hole in the guide. If either pedal was depressed, the electrical was interupted and vavcuum spilled from the bigger vacuum servo in the picture. The brain is a blue plastic box under the dash, mine is simply hung out of sight by a zip tie.
I bought my kits at a Sears surplus store in a mall about 1982 or 83. I bought them for $25 each, would have bought more but they only had two then and I had one still unopened when I bought my '77. I rigged a toggle switch for on/off, and momentary contact button switches for both set & resume myself. .
I found the vacuum storage tank stored enough vacuum to near floor the throttle if it thinks it needs it. The "kit" bfrom Sears has a long cable in a tube from servo to chain for more mount options, I mounted mine over near fender and run the cable in a big "S" pathway to a bracket near the carb.
Interesting... I was at a garage sale and saw this thing in the original box. Everything is sealed and it has a sticker on the control box "Dana Corp Toledo, Ohio".

Myster part from a 1977 Ford F100 351
This is the Speed Control Servo .. there are two types. Where is the switch located that operates the Speed Control?
Switch clipped to the turn signal handle = Dealer installed // Two switches located in the horn pad, one on either side: Left: OFF/ON // Right side: SET/ACCEL/COAST = Factory installed
