DPFE not found

DPFE not found
I recently had an fault code P0402 . I had many responses to R/R my DPFE- I now notice I do not have one. Is this common on a Expy 01 4.6L? I see the mounting bolts where it should go.

The line coming from my ERG valve goes to the EGR regulator. Are there certain models that don't have an DPFE? Here's the link to my original problem.

uhm....egr regulator?
ok.....EGR tube goes from your exahust manifold(header) to the EGR vavle and it is metal. There are 2 little rubber hoses that come off of that metal EGR tube that goto the DPFE. I've never seen one without a DPFE so if you don't have one thats a new one for me

From the exhaust mani. to the (what I thought was) ERG regulator: one red line in & one green line out to the EGR valve. Here's one of the pictures I have of it, this is off of a 3.0L Ranger. I do see the mounting bolts where I thought it should go, but nothing there. If it has been previously changed would it look different? Someone told me if it was original it would be silver, if it had been changed it would be black. I think tomorrow I will try to take a picture and post it. Thanks...

O.K., I found the DPFE. It seems Ford performed a modification on it before I bought it. THe DPFE was in a different area and did not look anything like the original or any of the pictures I've seen of it. Anyhow, I did some voltage chks and resistance chks and it seems to be bad. The splice job Ford did was horrible, so it could also be that. Thanks....
