Most of you seasoned Excursion owners probably already know this, but as a newbie I was shocked how easy / cheap it is to get new Key Fobs for my Excursion. Came across this video that explained where to buy them for under $10 each and how to program them in under a couple minutes. Worked great for me.
Yes I liked the Red ones too and ordered a second set of them to put away as spare just in case. Sure wish spare keys were cheap. Can get a spare from Lowes to unlock the door but it is expensive to go to Ford and get another key to start the X.
If you have two keys that can start the truck now, programming the PATS system to accept a third key is easy. Now if you only have one key that can start the car, then a trip to a dealer or locksmith is needed.

Antonm, Ugh...this is where I'm at. Plenty of key for doors but only one deactivates PATS in the ignition. I'm tempted to carve the chip out of the key and permanently fasten it to the ring on the ignition tumbler. Then any key would work!

Good info on the key FOBS
When I bought my Ex it only came with one key. The dealership couldn't get or make me another one (yes it was a Ford dealership, blew my mind that they couldn't do it). So I called a mobile locksmith that came to my house in his stickered up van (his van had the most obnoxious business advertisement wrap on it ever) and made me another two keys and programed the truck to be able to start with them.
A quick google search should be able to get you in touch with a similar business in your area.

I have 2 keys that will start my X. Remember I'm a newby, how would I easily create another one cheaply?
Thanks,
Dan

Ford transponder key blanks are available on Amazon 2 for $15, be sure to match the head shape.
Home Depot will sometimes cut them for free, they sell key blanks which includes cutting.
I have 4 keys & FOBs for our Excur and Exped, relatively easy to enter more key/FOB IDs into the system if you have two.
Note: If I remember correctly you have to enter all the IDs during the entry sequence, you can't just add an additional one or two.

I've bought a set off Amazon as well but I have to be right up on the truck to use them. Thinking it's the fob and not the truck. Anyone else have this issue?
No, mine works from normal distance. The red alert button works to dam far away. I accidently push it inside the house and have to go out and put the key in the ignition and turn it to on for the alarm to go off.

I didn't like working under the car with keys in my pocket and accidently hitting the red alert button so I disabled the button by opening it up and scratching/cutting the trace for that switch.

Your FOBs may have been sitting around a long time, have you tried changing the batteries?
