I have a 2003 Limited. I changed out headlight fixtures. When I went to put in a LED bulb, the cooling fan was too big to allow the retainer ring to fit over it to lock the HB5 bulb in place. What have you guys used to manage this? Thanks
go to autozone or oriellys, there is a replacement ring you can buy that allows for the large heatsink type bulbs, it might be made by dorman, its 3 prongs used for locking are slightly too long just due to them not being so precise to detail, it will take you 30 seconds with a file to fix them and then it fits perfectly.
The new ring is much shallower and does not cover the heatsink at all, thus the bulb will get better airflow as well with the newer ring.
Thanks. I used something similar which came with the lights. All for naught, the headlights cannot be adjusted up to the proper height. How in the **** do you sell headlights without the ability to adjust. I used the clips and pulled it up as high as possible but no go. Too bad-really nice looking headlights. Already ordered new OEM style from 1A Auto and ordered new LED signal light and side marker.
Not sure about yours but rotating mine made some difference to the height because of the way the LEDs are laid out. The Stark ones can be rotated to have two rows on top and one on the bottom or vice versa. And that changes where the most light goes depending on your liking. You might try rotating the bulbs 180° if they are anything like the ones I have.
Try fiddling with it a little. Between the bulb extenders you should get a decent pattern. My low beams actually put out more usable spread than my high beams.
