302 and I-6 issues
ok, so i've BBQed my 5th M5OD clutch. im determined for it to be my last one way or another. Does a 302/351 have the same bell housing pattern as an I-6? If so a guy quoted me $600 for a '77 4spd granny tranny, t-case with the front Dana 44. All this was out of a running driving truck that was just filled with rust. Thats parts only obviously but its $800 to get a clutch put in that wont slip when i beat on it. I will obviously need to shorten the rear drive shaft but thats ok i work in a welding/machine shop. I know that reg cab short bed 92-96 4x4's came with single tanks only but that was with the M5OD and the B/W 1356. I dont know it for sure but the 4spd (clue me in on the exact New Process #) and NP205 (i think) might be a shorter overall combo and i might could keep my front tank, but if not, thats ok, i'll just build a custom unit at the shop. Any thoughts?

Yes, the bellhousing is the same, and you'll have to do a LOT of extra work to put a 4WD transmission/t-case into a 2WD truck, especially considering that you'll have to change the floorpan adapter (and maybe the floor covering) to use the old transmission in the new truck. The transmission you're getting might be an NP-435, or it could be a BW T-18/19. Check this site for clues on how to tell what it is.
