I have a 1985 f150 4x2 that im trying to change the lug pattern from 5x5.5 to 5x4.5 without using spacers. I just installed 3" lowering beams on the truck and dont want to start over. Can it be done without changing the whole front end. I tried a hub/rotor form a 1980 f150 4700 gvrw it used the same inner and outer bearings as my stock rotor but didn't work the outer bearing bottomed out on the spindle before the bearing pulled up to the hub. Can it be done without changing the whole front end.

Nope you have to swap everything from the beams on out.
When they went to ball joints from kingpins they went with the larger bolt pattern.
Before that only the F100 trucks had the smaller pattern and larger pattern. Thing is besides the wheel pattern the kingpins are different sizes so you can't swap spindles.
So it beams on out to the wheels if you want the smaller pattern wheels.
BTW they don't make beams in both size kingpins think it's only the small kingpins size.

They don't make lowering beams that fit the small pattern axles do they? If he switches to the small pattern wheels he will lose his dropped axles correct?
I forget what size kingpin beams they offer at this time.
Even if it was the one for his wheel pattern he would still need to get the kingpins, spindles, brake shields (hard to find), maybe calipers & pads.
I do know the calipers & pads are different between the 2 wheel sizes..
I am sure that when the kingpins were dropped so was the F100 and the small bolt pattern.
Also on the kingpin suspension the only adjustment you have is toe anything else the beams have to be bent and shops today don't have the equipment or know how to do this.

As Franklin2 said, we have a lot of filterable options when it comes to looking for wheels. Here's a list of every 15" wheel that we offer in a 5" x 5.5" bolt pattern. You can filter the results by brand, width, material, color, finish, offset, backspace, and more to narrow down which options look best to you.
Check out some of the "old school" steel wheels that we offer. This includes steel wheels from Cragar, American Racing, Wheel Vintiques, U.S. Wheel, and more.
