Drove 50miles today 10miles while towing heavy. Not a single issue. I had a slight wobble while waiting at a red light but it was brief. I marked on the coolant tank this morning, maybe dropped 1/2 inch.
- No visible leaks near oil cooler
- No oil in coolant
- No loss of power
- No smoke from exhaust
From the research i've read, its possible for it to be going in the Heater Core?
After I just bought this new-to-me truck, the coolant kept going down below the fill line constantly. I couldn't figure it out. It was only after I switched out the coolant to the red ELC, that a CRACK was highlighted in red on the side of the degas bottle. It was only when pressured up, that it came out, probably aerosolized and disappeared. Just throwing in my experience...probably not a common thing.
If your heater core was leaking you'd smell it in the cab and have steamed windows. The degas bottle has a way of ending up a little below the line and staying there. Why it does it is a mystery but many of us have that issue, including me. If it stays put once it's down a little, don't sweat it.
