Any Solar Rack Accessories?
The problem is that you need a lot of large solar panels to generate the kind of power that it would make a difference. It looks like a full charge on a extended range lightning will take about 150 kilowatt hours (KWH). In a typical sunny day, my solar panels (about 3 ft by 4 ft) generates about 0.8 KWH. That means if you fix one full-sized panel to the top of your truck it would take about 180 days to fully charge. And I am not sure what power losses you would experience in going from the DC current generated by the panel to AC current that you need to charge the truck's batteries. Also, I have my panels oriented at a 35 vertical degree angle with a true south bearing orientation. Anything less than that, like placing it flat on the top of the truck would be less efficient.
