F150 P016 engine code
Thanks for your help.

When the timing chain gets worn or has broken plastic guides ,the plastic gets ground up by chains /gears or timing wheel .. It can damage that aluminum wheel .
But we see damaged crank sensor wires at times since they are low on the engine , down by ac compressor . The connector is subject to dirt ,corrosion/oil. The cable to it is 2 conductor with a ground shield and has been known to corrode and short out . . These signals can be looked at by a scope and compared . Which takes a shop with a good scope.
You need to inspect your wires for broken or abraded/ grounded wires . clean all connectors with contact cleaner . You can ohm them out to pcm connectors and check them for grounding out .
Usually if the crank sensor is bad you can't start and no rpm signal will show during cranking . These sensors create their own signals from the metal fingers passing by them . So anything that breaks or distorts metal finger can mess this up .
You can replace all these sensors without removing timing cover . But firing a parts cannon may not work . Sometimes blaming the sensor is wrong , it may be telling you about a real failure .
You are in the zone for a timing job . But this may call for a pro type scanner that has a scope and a good tech . Like a launch/autel/snap on all quite expensive . Some shops have a variety of these. But a good tech is hard to find . You can find shops the just do diagnostics. Even the big shops send their problem cases to them .
