Disc brake conversion question

I have a D44 disc brake front end from a 76 swapping out the 69 drum, i got a dual diaphram booster and new master cylinder for a 76 from rockauto. i ordered a disc/drum proporting valve from jegs. Question is what order to mount. MC to prop valve to stock distribution block to brakes? or MC to stock dist block to prop valve to brake? or do away with stock block? i know some MC have prop valve mounted to them, but just watched a youtube vid were he put prop valve after the stock block on a mustang conversion? Thanks

I think the GM style prop valve mounted to the frame just below the booster, in factory applications.

Forgot to add, I am doing same conversion to my highboy, Dual Diaphragm but with a 78 axle.

I plan to make it as stock as possible, so I think the drum differential valve needs to go completely.

You would be best off ordering a new set of lines for a 76 and mounting the disc prop valve wherever the hard lines meet up, that would be stock.

I am probably going this route.

Do you feel better now that you were able to show everyone your shiny new hydroboost and prop valve? lol
That reminds me of an AstroVan master. Is it?

Forming brake lines is not difficult. However, bending them how I need them to be bent, that is what I find difficult. Good luck.

you will need the disc / drum prop valve and seems the numbers are a 2 and a 12 or something near.
I would have to do some research to be accurate. I do think you should eliminate the drum / drum prop valve for the new one.
Keep us posted !

I got a disc/drum prop valve to replace the stock dist block. the brake warning plug on top is different? the plug that came with the new is single wire and the old is two wires? Wondering if its needed? or how you would splice?

That there is the old drum differential valve pictured.

Yes, the universal valves come with GM style valves.. I THINK you can just screw in the old one or buy a new one for a 60s-80s Ford.

they both actually use one wire, the other is either a blank or ground.

Thanks, just looking on jeffs bronco, they have a ford prop valve with one wire and it says: For dual wire brakes switch, wire both wires to the single new pigtail.

Caster angle should be between 4°-6° positive for more stable highway speeds & this also helps the steering to automatically return to center when exiting a turn. The low pinion axle doesn't play well with a suspension lift. I'd try a 2° shim or no shims & lower the transfer case with 1" spacers. This will help both front & rear driveline angles. A '69 highboy should have the divorced Dana24 T.C. if these are mounted to the crossmember like the later NP205, there's eight 3/8" bolts that secure the T.C. to the crossmember, that is where the spacers will go. To be clear, 1" may or may not be enough to get proper angles, some experimental research will be needed. Personally I wouldn't drop it more than 1.5". Years ago my highboy was setup with a Dana 60 high pinion front with 6" suspension lift (no shims) & my 205 was dropped 1.25", the front driveline angle was perfect.

Glad you got it working. Just went to 4 wheel discs on my 68 f100. Was about to start typing what I did and see you got it already.
