I have a 9 inch rear end housing with no axles installed. I have measured the housing and gotten a flange to flange measurement. Question: when the axles are installed, how much distance is added to the flange to flange width? In other words, how far does the axle flange stick out from the rear end flange?
For example...I have a housing that measures 57 inches in width...what can I expect my wheel to wheel mounting flange width to be when the rear end is assembled?
I would measure the axles if I had one handy but unfortunately I don't. Thanks...
I may have answered my own question...2.36 inches per side or 4.72 inches overall. So a 57 inch housing will give me a rear end that is 61.72 inches wide at the wheel mounting flanges.
Top one is stock 57-72 F100 9" housing. Axles are the same length even tho the housing is off-set.
I always used 61 1/4" which is pretty close to the 61.095" the first sketch shows.
