Have a 72 F100 with gauges. The fuel gauge and gauge under it are dark (not lit) as well as the left turn indicator and high beam light indicator. I pulled the panel out and the filaments in the bulbs appeared to intact so I hit the copper on the printed circuit board and the plug and contacts on the harness with some light sandpaper put it all back together but it didn’t fix it.
I was going to order a set of LED bulbs anyway just because they’re brighter but does anyone think it’s worth getting a new $39 circuit board while I’m at it in case the bulbs aren’t the issue?
Anyone try these LED bulbs from NPD if so how do you like them?
Took the instrument panel out again and the bulbs are like an old string of Christmas lights. If you lose contact or the filament burns out say on #3 bulb #3,4 & 5 also go out.
The bulbs simply stab into a socket and the socket which twists into the circuit board. Where the bulbs stab into the socket on a few of the bulbs they weren’t making good contact to the inside of the socket. I corrected that now all lights are working correctly. I ordered the LED’s anyway as they are brighter. Should be here today.
