I'm trying to remember the assmbly of the cross member. I think this comes completely out then you back the tranny off the motor to clear the clutch then it goes straight down.
The cross-member is also a carrier for the radius arms. Unfortunately it's fastended to the side rails of the frame with what might be stove-bolt rivets or something like that.
I don't mind splitting the cross-member as it has four bolts inboard towards the center and a set of two bolts on the lower channel of the frame. This gives a little leeway on the cross-member and then the exhaust cross-over can come down the same distance.
I think I might have to resort to a little lateral force to re-install the tranny. After that it's all pretty straight forward.
Incidentally, I'm photographing this procedure as I go along. I noticed you've put together a bit of a help site for enthusiasts, if you're interested I could edit a bunch of them for a 'step-by-step' guide sort of thing.
Anyway, thanks for all your help to date, much appreciated.
Dale.
