Stripped handles

For those of you who have stripped handles on the inside, there is a product that may help you out. @Christmas has mentioned my handles being the wrong way a few times as a safety issue. I removed the door to replace the door seal on the driver side and could not get the handle to stay on anymore so I had to put these on. I've had them for a while and I am doing custom panels so the gap will disappear, but just wanted to show there is an option out there for some situations. They fit the window cranks too. They were steep at $25 each on eBay, but they are built well and fit solid. If you have a welder, you could fab something similar up. I did have to grind the beveled edge of the gear on the door to get them to fit, but they work well. I also drilled a dimple for the set screw to go into. They won't be for everyone, but they are a better choice than vice grips.

She was supervising me yesterday

Another possible option, if you have the patience, is to locate an original. My regulators showed wear on the gear teeth. I noticed that at least for the window crank handle, the set screw on the re- popped one was significantly smaller, allowing the handle to loosen over time just from regular use. I found an NOS crank handle, and apparently the problem is solved.

I drilled and tapped aftermarket handles to take a larger set screw after stripping the threads with repeated tightening. Holding up fine so far.

Shot in the dark, had similar problem and used a mini rectangular file to clean the worn gear, who would have thunk?

I drilled into the regulator shaft and used a longer set screw and gave it something more to secure to.
