Hanging Door Help

Hi FTE Friends,

I believe with your help, I can accomplish what I've set out to do - have a better fit on my doors.

It's been struggle, but I don't dwell on all the things I feel, instead I'm glad I do...

In short words, the 351W purrs, ROARS and drives better than new. Tranny, is impeccable. Rear end is working as designed (though I had the gears modified).

Recently installed the Mustang II upgrade (though shaky on results until it gets aligned (shimmed) and all that jazz.

What's left? To have the doors aligned - AT LEAST better than they currently are - and re-install door rubber to keep noise and water out of cab.

So I'm reaching out to you -with visuals - with hopes that in return I can get a visual step by step process so that I can accomplish this without having to employ any further help (them are big hopes folks)

Here is where I'm at.
Doors are hung -- see picture sequences

I welcome all input.
Paul

I see nothing wrong with those doors. I would say they are well hung!

Here is a tip though. Put your weatherstripping on before you fine tune your doors.

You may need to tweak them I think I read on here at one point you just need to muscle them to where you want them (in another bend them, push on them etc ) Pretty sure I read that here. Seriously...

On my drivers side door I had to do what Don just described, the top right curve, I had to message the door frame out. And, the door itself at the top corner had to be tweeked in a bit. I wondered at times if the factory was out or whatever else.

Make your hinges adjustable.
Drill holes, tap, add bolts.

Or mid fifty sells.

I had some similar fitment issues and used a 2x4 and some muscles to tweak an issue with the upper frame not matching the opening.

The bottom of the passenger door looks to fit well, except the front bottom corner. It looks like it needs to be massaged with a plastic dead blow type bfh to have the radius match front fender.

Thank you All for the input.
Chad, you're on to something... but as Abe mentions, doors are hung well enough. I understand the massaging however I may be a bit late in the game for that. So really, a good seal may accomplish what I'm after.
Off to purchase another set of rubber... Oh, so, besides M50, DCarpntr etc... is there anyone else who delivers good rubber for our trucks? Anyone heard or purchase from Steele Rubber Products?

I got my rubber weatherstrips and window rubber from Steele but that was 17 years ago. They do make a lot of rubber products.

Hey Paul,
We have the same issue with our '50. Passenger doesn't fit well after the new rubber was installed. I'll follow your example.

The rubber was good quality. Windshield and rear window rubber still great shape, no off coloring or cracking, etc.

I am not sure where I got my door weather stripping.... I am getting my truck repainted and am getting the hollow core rubber this time. Will get it from Mid Fifty. My doors didn't shut well at the bottom with the original style rubber.

I need rear door gaskets for my 89 E150, LMC doesn't have it, anyone have a source, and a doghouse gasket too.
The gaskets I put on my 73 glued on, I bought the adhesive from the parts store, it bonds quick so it doesn't allow adjustments, but I like it better than the double sided tape stuff.
