I got some cheap 7" LEDs on amazon that had decent reviews. under $100. $400 Rigid clones. Not F-you bright, but 3-4x of the old. pattern is OK.
They use way less power and use original plug, so NO WIRING MODS needed. Current/power value comparison in my build thread.
I have used led headlights and they worked great i just used some jeep 7 inch rounds they have the correct connection and also come with adapter( not needed). they run around 70 bucks on amazon, if you buy the amazon lights i would also buy a stand alone power harness for the headlights it runs about 20 bucks and is a huge jump in brightness of lights.
Any upgrade on headlights, whether halogen or LED (or combination, like I did) will help visibility.
Want to keep a stock look, yet upgrade? I went with these from LMC Truck (https://www.lmctruck.com/1957-72-for...tom-headlights) $40 and they do have LED halo you can wire-up. Video showing my install, minus the halo wiring:
