I was driving my 1983 f-250 6.9L Diesel 180Kmi. and without warning the motor just stopped running. I coasted it to the side of the road and had to have it towed because it wouldn't start.
Everything seemed fine and it would turn over but wouldn't start. It was like I ran out of gas but I had a over 3/4 tank and the other tank was full.
I thought maybe I got some bad fuel and the filter was really clogged up but when I took it out it was fine. (
I replaced it anyway) i think it might be fuel system related but im not too familiar with diesels,
there is a electric selonoid on the fuel distrabution manifold on those diesels, when the key is on, there will be power to the selonoid, and will allow the fuel to reach the pump, when the key is off, then no fuel will reach, so no start
hey i_alone, sounds like a good place to start.. where is the fuel distribution manifold? exactly? also where is the fuel pump so i can check it ... thanx allot BTW the wiring and electrical under the hood has been butchered soo bad i cant tell what suposed to go to what it was converted to single battery and glow plugs and start are both controlled by seperate manual buttons under the dash!!! uhh the brains of some people heheh there are cut and unhooked wires everywhere but it used to actually run great anyway thats off the subject hehe
