Fueled up at Flying J today, and was also low on DEF so went to pump some DEF, didn't really pay any attention to the price until after I was already pumping.
Freakin' $3.59 a gallon!!!
I stopped as soon as I saw that, only put in $10 worth.
I had been buying 2.5 gallon jugs at walmart, but they recently raised their price to $7.88 plus .66 tax here, makes the jugs $3.41 a gallon.
So, walmart jugs are back to being cheaper than Flying J/Pilot, but not by much.
There is a truck stop along the way on one of my routes that has DEF for $2.29 a gallon, guess I'll have to plan on stopping there when I can.
Truck stops are a blight on the diesel supply. They get the same product and then jack the price up another 50 cents or more because they know that people are going to buy based on location. The DEF at the pump situation is the same thing. I routinely try to find locations off the common path to fuel up, thankfully there are more than two hands full of stations with diesel around me.

But, I get a sizeable discount off the pump price of fuel at the Flying J and Pilot trucks stops with my company issued EFS fuel card, today it was cheaper that way than any other fuel location anywhere around.
Just wish they gave a similar discount on DEF.

While it's true that many truck stops charge more due to proximity to the interstate, they also sell a lot of fuel and I'd rather pay a little more to have fresh fuel than a smaller place that has water in their tanks.

I'm rural enough that there is diesel, and suburban enough that it's just about everywhere. Water isn't really an issue.
Urea is made from ammonia, ammonia is made from natural gas. Natural gas has more than doubled in price. Urea is in high demand around the world for fertilizer, plastics, and other uses, expect the price to go up.
