I ordered a set of Vision Flow wheels in 17x9 with 0 offset. Backspacing seems to be 5”. The tires were ordered separately and are 285/70/17.
I’m suddenly nervous that the backspacing is too much, and I might end up rubbing on the front leaf springs. I haven’t mounted the tires yet, so I could possibly still return these wheels if need be.
Does anyone have definitive experience running a 17x9 0 offset wheel on their excursion? I’m not sure if it matters for the sake of this issue but the truck has about a 4” Procomp lift.
Go to custom offsets. They have a gallery that you can search by wheel size, offset, back spacing, and vehicle. See if other guys are running those dimensions on Super duty's.
I thought about 17x9s, but i went with 16x10 instead, with -25 offset, i need wider tires for the environments i am in a lot, sand, mudd, and that dirt that has the consistency of flour, i think the 16x10s with some nice 285/75/16s will make a major improvement, i might have to step up to 305 or 315 tho because 285s around here been out of stock almost everywhere.
I was also looking around for 315/60/16 but those seem to not even exist, or something close, just dont really need the 315/75/16s which are easier to find, didnt want so much extra height to come with the extra width.

Is a 285 wide enough for a 10” wheel? My initial plan was Vision Tactical in 17x10 with -25 offset, but I didn’t want to go with a wider than 285 tire. I do drive at highway speeds in the snow/slush and wet a lot and didn’t want to go too wide. I even considered a 255/80/17 but was worried it wouldn’t ride right.
I did a test fit of just the wheel today before I get the tires mounted and I think it will work out. Worst case I guess I could do spacers though I’m really trying to avoid that.

285mm is 11.2 inches, the rim is 10, sounds close enough to me.

My 9” rims are actually 10” from face to face. I think the 9” must be from the inside bead surface as that appears to be about 9”. I’m a little concerned the 285 won’t be wide enough to these wheels. I’m sure they’ll physically work, just hoping it doesn’t look stupid with the tire not “ballooning” out from the rim at least a little.
On custom offsets, one of the recommended sizes for the 18x9 inch wheels I am looking at is 275 70 18.. So they at least think it's a proper tire size for it... 285 is even wider..
