The last three characters are part of the engineering numbering scheme that Ford uses. Those last three determine what programming catch code the computer is loaded with. LAOO is probably the catch code alphanumeric symbols.
BGA. I think it must have to do with the engine and tranny.
It's a 1996 F250 4x4 crewcab short box with a 7.5 and a C6 auto.
Do you know its fried or think so? Is yours Cali emissions, Start new thread and our GURU's can help you determine if it is.
Cardone, and BSE, both say out of stock, the one company that said in stock(be sitting down, price)
see link below 1996 Ford Truck 7.5L - PCM ECM ECU | F6TF-12A650-BGA | Flagship One
O'Rileys shows the computer part number 78-6400 for your truck. It is a Cardone unit. I have bought two of them with good luck. Some on here don't like them. They do have a one year warranty so that is some protection. $120.00
I saw that one. Cha ching. $$$$$$ for a 25.5 yr old truck. Should have stayed with a carb, fuel pump on the motor, an alternator, and a starter. Those trucks will run forever. Stupid computers!
I just got my SS check and I think I will buy a "just in case" computer for my 91 which is original. The out of stock on many things is getting bad. Serious.
Same as last guy trying to get F250 PCM, out of stock/special order
you can find PCM fixing services, probably easier than I could. a 96 7.5 is probably eec-iv unless a superrare cali kind or something else i have not seen. eec-iv means its physicaly simpler and done by more companies. pay them you just have to wait on shipping and a day or two turn around

im not one to play for teams but are you about to tell me a 25.5 year old Autolite/Motorcraft carburetor or a GM Quadrajet would be running tip top or not need refreshing in the time between then and now? infact, the computer can *sit* for longer than a carb assuming the wires dont get chewed up
Dont get me wrong my square has a carb my electra does and my small engines do but my park avenue, f150 have EFI and EFI has helped 300s a lot because 1 central carburetor is just not good practice for an inline 6.put 2 or more in the mix and i will say its a fair race depending on needs and wants. for example, if this truck has catastrophic electrical issues over time because of the ****ty ford insulation getting worse than already is, I will consider making my 300 carb and then an aftermarket E4OD controller because the truck is so simple the the template for a vehicle is there still perfectly good to use just the.. wires.. not so hot. well maybe too hot lol
by no means fully correct for operation like often but its on property only atm. pieced together from various small blocks and it was my gpas handy work rigging everything ._. but its comes a far way since.. oh it was bad
iknow I scared you there with all the spooky stuff Lol. But $10 bucks says at least 8/10 people with those older carb trucks with centrifrugal advance in distributors have incorrect timing, mangled with the adjustment screws on carb, have a sticky or rusted advance weights and or worn spring/bushings and some poor vacuum lines and will say the same thing about EFI being junk. Its not about the system
well, it is partially. if this system suffices for what its doing, and the quality is not objectively crap, then ify ou take care of it and do rresearch you will be ok

I'm with you on this one, just hope I haven't kicked the tires too long, and none left for mine, I remember RLA, and you saying get close and it should work, I guess I'm fix-n-ta see.

I'm going to put my new PCM in so I won't miss the warranty and keep my original on hand. Don't remember saying " get close" with the PC,M. And can't imagine rla saying it.
