I found one on ebay in FT Collins, Colorado. Reman and programmed to my VIN. $500 and free shipping. It should be here on Saturday.
modulemadness is the sign on name on ebay. 100% feedback. I saw another on ebay for $909 with lifetime warranty, but had negative reviews.

You are not gonna believe this. After all the stuff I've done to this truck the past 6 weeks. I pulled the intake manifold today. I had hardly any vacuum. I thought I had an internal vacuum leak. I had a 1978 Ford E250 Pathfinder 4x4 van that had an internal leak. The gasket was blown out in the valley. After I pulled the manifold today, all the gaskets were intact. I re-installed the manifold. When I was lining up the distributer, the rotor was moving with no restrictions. I pulled the distributer back out, and found that the distributer gear roll pin was sheared. That was my problem all along. I'm gonna drink a case of beer now.
Aurora Girl, I borrowed your logo above for my new avatar. Hope you don't mind as imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
Thats okay lol!
I personally found it used once as a "haha ford dumb" akin to the fat mustang logo, but I think its enduring when used in this manner.
I have no true brand allegiance like some people. I more or less use what I have, seek what "works" and what has proved itself, and put the effort to keep something I think is quality on the road.
hence How I drive a buick, my first car was oldsmobile(was gifted but I kept it on road way longer than most would, but it was a learning experience), and even tho I did not buy my f150 or squarebody chevy, I will definitely treat them more kindly than any newer POS etc.
I also own a gmt 400 gm truck which funnily is the exact replica of the f150 if it were instead GM, green, and just more miles. It has a 4l60 and a 5.7l, but equipped with a towing packagae. i equate this to my e4od and 300(no tow packagae, but the e4od makes that difference in my mind since gm had nothing lower than 4l60e in 96), they are both long bed, 2wd, basic bones + ac trucks, the GM truck had junky tires and needed some TLC to get a veryt decent truck, both trucks have shifter cable issues, both have some rust but could be worse situations, both used past their intended limits, both had refreshed front end exteriors Safe to say this XLT 96 f150 with count-on-one-hand options didnt have nice silver grille or bezels and clear turn signal/sidemarker lamp housings LOL This may not be pretty but its post-facelift with some nicer plastics. (Funny, too, the tool boxes that arent easy to see on this truck are from a 60s contractors special F series, blew my mind when I figured that out LOL. also it is visible my dad put towing mirrors on it LOL
although the GM truck had one thing over the f150, it had RKE from factory despite being low options and pretty bare bones. My f150 doesnt, which is fine, but I wish the silver paint didnt show the scuffs around the key slot so bad. also way more of an answer than you were expecting but I figured to share the easy-going ness of things like Go Forder lol.
I have no loyalty to Ford since I got shafted when I bought a new GT500 in 07. I will buy used Ford's since Ford is not getting my money. My first car was a 1953 Ford two door hardtop with a flathead V8. Was always a Ford guy till 07.
I feel a little dumb because I literally have only just realized this thing is a coupe and not a sedan. For some reason I thought it had 4 doors.. its only been sitting there since I was like 7. Lol.
My grandfather had a Customline 2 door for his first car, had a flathead. He may not have had a 53 like this one, but he had the same generation(not sure on the years, 49-53?) anyway, he had a mercury front end on it because it was in some damage and I think it was the most easily obtainable car with interchangable front end stuff. He had it back in 64, wish I had a picture of it handy. There is a nice polaroid somewhere around here of it, beautiful baby blue with white top and of course a merc front end. He bought this before I was born(early 90s I believe) because he wanted to restore it but never got that far. Now hes gone, but I want to get air in them tires, jack it up out of the dirt its kinda sitting on , and get it moved 1) for it to not rot so badly doing so 2) so its out of the way of the door not visible in photos but its straight ahead. used to sit in our shed, till he yanked it out and there it has sat since.
This one had a lot of paperwork with it, and it was purchased at Stinn Motor Company in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Had some original brochure papers from Ford, too. Good ol 50s art style advertising things like canned fire fighting liquid.

Yes I did. Very cool to see it. Thanks. BTW if that steering wheel is in good shape it could be worth $$$. Dash looks great too..
Thank you, it has been off the road since like 72 or so and only onutside since late 2000s and was probably shed kept the whole time between or at least most.
