I absolutley hate 20" and bigger wheels that stick outside of the fender. Unfortunatley the truck and 5th wheel camper I just bought at a can't refuse price has just that.
My question is 2 parts.
1st... Will 17" wheels fit on the above truck.
My plan is to get a 3" level and add Crager 17" Soft 8's with 37" BFG All Terrains. Will it fit? Will it rub? Should I stay with 35" AT's?
2nd... How will she pull with the big tires and maxed out on weight pulling that 5th wheel. I don't remember the weight of the trailer, but it's a smaller 5th wheel designed to be pulled by a half ton. The truck is geared at 3.55.
Probably will be deleted in the future as well.
Whadya y'all think?
I wouldn’t want to 5th wheel with a lifted truck on 37s.
I would run a metric that works well but near a 35x12.50 and do f350 rear blocks and leave the front alone. Maybe some good heavy duty shocks and maintenance is all you need..
I've never had a problem towing with 37's on my truck. It has been leveled or lifted since 14k miles. And has had 37's for the last 120k miles. We have towed our 13k 5th wheel all through Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Just make sure you have good trailer brakes if you are going to tow heavy. This went across the scales at a combined weight of 34,700. The truck did fine and it how no powertrain mods. I run 37x13.50x17 Toyo MTs. If you are going to level the truck and tow, you might as well budget for air bags.
Edit: Pay attention to tire load ratings. Quite a few of the 17" 37's are rated lower than what I prefer for my use.
Edit 2: I also have a 37" spare in the factory spare location.

Damn!! Those tires look good!! Forgot to mention the plan for airbags as well. What gearing are you running? You rubbing at all with those 13.5's?

Stock 3.55's. The tires do rub the radius arms slightly at full lock. Doesn't bother me at all. I have a 4.5" lift and had to do slight trimming on the back of the front bumper. You can't see it from outside the fender well. I also pulled the inner fender liner rearward some. The tires wanted to grab it while turning and backing. I have been running this setup now for 4 years or so and have no issues. Before this I ran 37x13.50x20 on the stock 20" wheels. The truck was leveled then and it only rubbed the radius arms.

the 17s should fit as those are stock size wheels. I wouldn’t run 37s with 3:55s and towing a 5er. Maybe 35s but that would be about it.
your problem is gonna be the large circumference of the tire robbing power and towing a 5th wheel further sapping the power. I know you got a diesel but that won’t change physics. Also if you’re lifted the 5th wheel will sit funny unless you flip the axles.
