Other than commercial use, what have you hauled in your full size Van?
I drove down from Sacramento to San Diego to buy an engine the other day and rather rent a Uhaul trailer that limited my max speed of 55mph. I decided to load it the back of the van and cruised at 70 mph. Worked out great.
Well when it came time to buy and deliver a Ford reman'd 5.4 I had the dealer load it into the back of my 2005 E-350 extended body, dropped it off to my installer and got a ride back home.
When it was ready to retrieve the core was already loaded into that nifty container, dropped off at the dealer and was done.
FWIW I've seen photos the a Transit Connect with a long block 11 liter Cummings engine resting inside.
As a daily driver that 2005 E-350 extended body is my rolling tool box with just over 2,500 pounds riding in the back area. I have nothing against the F-Series but my stuff needs the protection and concealment only a van can offer. It's also been an ersatz mobile Love Shack on occasion.
I dunno bout that. I drive a 15 Transit 250 for work and it's loaded down all the time with tools, including an air compressor and parts for the vehicles I work on. It has a 3.7l v6 that has more hp than v8's made in the 90's.
I used to haul 2 dirt bikes, fuel, tools, camping stuff, myself, the other bike's rider, and once a 3rd guy in my '85 shortie. Underpowered? Try a 300 with 3.50s, 31" tires and that OD 4 speed.
The wife, baby & MIL on a trip to Yosemite. Seems like we used to take everything we owned as it was packed with tents, sleeping bags, food, coolers, more food.....diapers..... Got rained and flooded out and had to stuff it all back in wet, made for an entertaining ride home.
My MIL paid it the highest compliment: "Not as bad as I thought...". My wife and baby were in the back with no windows, alternately feeling sick and dizzy and puking....(just the baby, mom almost)
So you can haul whatever you want. I hope you tied that engine down........
