Decided to go with the AT 3s, getting them put on Saturday. Literally found 1 place that had 5 in stock in the entire country. Called at least a dozen different local shops/online searches . Hopefully they’re as good as all the reviews online.
I would hope the shortage is attributable to them being that awesome but finding any kind of tire seemed to be a challenge.
I think it was a good choice. This is my first choice to replace the stock Michelin’s soon. Please post some feedback after you get them.
Out of pure ignorance what happens if you use the stock 34 as the spare? And if you get a flat running 3 35s and 1 34? Debating on finding a cheap 35 to put on the spare rim, but don’t want to if I don’t need to.
Got the new tires put on-295/65/20 stock suspension. Toyo open country AT III. Love the look, quiet compared to stock tires? Not exactly. Not obnoxiously loud but definitely a hum at higher speeds and faint rumble when when coming to a stop.
handles somewhat similar to stock but don’t have a ton of miles on them yet. Will report back when I have some more miles on them.

where did you get those tires?? I have been looking for 6 weeks. every time i call or look at the national online retailers, i get the same response "backordered with no eta"
Finally bit on a set of 295/65R20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s from none other than Walmart, with free shipping, which is no small trick up here in AK. Saved about $900 compared to a local customs shop - and they said they couldn't get 'em for weeks. Considered KO2s, AT IIIs and ST Maxx... but hoping these will scratch the itch for summer driving in the boondocking places we camp. It can be tricky if it rains. I have a set of stock size Cooper studded snows for winter on a set of used factory wheels.
Found them as a link from the Tire Size calculator web site. One caution - the TireSize description says 8"-10" wheels are fine, the Walmart site says 8.5" minimum. While tire stores tend to be picky about mounting something bought elsewhere, and there are no Walmart auto centers near here, there are other shops that will mount, balance and reset TPMS. Didn't really need to pull the trigger right now, but the increasing rarity of tires in this size pushed me. If nothing else, could sell them on CL or something similar for what I paid.

thanks
i got them through discount tire. I ordered them online and it said they were in stock; they obviously weren’t and the guys at the store were awesome-they were staying on top of their distributors and apparently as soon as they got some they put my order in. They had 18 nationally about a week ago. Took about a week with shipping.
also-I had ordered them through simple tire-decided to return those because of better support/return policy through discount tire.
If anyone is interested the ones I ordered through simple tire are still at the shop they were delivered to. Apparently I have to go there, put a shipping label on, take them to fedex to have them returned. Happy to sell them to someone here for my cost (same price everywhere). Located in Chicago suburbs. Would ship too assuming you pay for shipping.

thanks.
I check discount fairly often. I just need to order them. I am waiting a bit longer to get more wear out of the BFG's
Well I’m happy to report I was able to get a set of the Yokohama 295/65/20 Go15 tires installed this week from Discount Tire. They are very quiet & as smooth as my previous Michelin 20” tires. Also Very little weight to balance & they look great.

I finally got a set installed as well. So far they fit the bill. Quiet, 35’s, 3PMSF, more capacity, and they look good too!
I decided to swap out the toyo AT3 for the defenders.
AT3 had too much road noise and the ride quality wasn’t very good (drove 2k miles and tried several tire pressures).
very happy with the performance of the defenders, and they don’t look as cool, but the bigger tires fill in the wheel well and you can’t hardly tell a difference from a slight distance.
I chose comfort over aesthetics I suppose-happy with them so far.
