I know I know, another front bumper thread... Just wondering if anyone knows of another company besides Ranch Hand that has a specific allowance for the front camera? The F450 that's coming has the UTT, so we have all the camera's and I'd like to maintain their full functionality. The bumpers the wife and I have looked at it that she likes are, in order:
Buckstop Outback
Trail Ready
Throttle Down Customs
Problem with all those are the cross bars that are there to protect the grille/radiator block the front camera. The Ranch Hand doesn't but I'm not a big fan of those.
And having a replacement front bumper is an absolute must for me. I've hit two deer. One without a bumper, $12k in damage... One with a bumper, $120 in damage. I'll not be towing down I-81 through the hinter lands of PA in the middle of the night with $100k of rig and trailer and fear Bambi going for a midnight stroll.
It's not just the bar that might be interfering with the camera, many after-market bumpers stick out way past the factory bumper so they also impact the view. I have a Ranch Hand and while I can still utilize the front camera somewhat, it's not ideal and the 360 view also picks up the bumper as it sticks out far enough from the truck. Not sure if you could adjust the camera a bit and raise it up to help but I just go with it as I never seem to use the front camera when pulling into a spot. While this is not the best pic, it gives you an idea what the view may look like through a bumper that hangs out and it designed to be used with the front camera. Forward view is usable but nothing special and the part of the bumper shows up on the 360 view.
I put the Trail Ready with the pre-runner bar on my 2017 shortly after I bought the truck. It was one of the few bumpers that would accommodate my adaptive cruise transmitter box. I share your concern about the camera, and that's why I didn't get the full guard setup - I figured the vertical bars would block the side views from the front camera. While my pre-runner bar blocks part of the forward view, I can see the bar in the camera and can still see fine above and below it. Honestly, I really don't ever use the wide view mode so next time I would probably get the full guard and live with it because I think it offers better protection and actually looks a bit better. I can send some pics if you like.
