Bumper vs. barrel :(
Bumper vs. barrel :(
OK, so we accidentally ran over a steel oil drum in the yard (don't ask) and the lower portion of the bumper is bent in. Any ideas on an aftermarket additions? I'm thinking it's time for a "bull bar" since it's just a slight bend in the bumper and that would be covered by the addition ... any other suggestions? I'll eventually replace the bumper, once I get moved and find a good junk yard in San Antonio.

You didn't say if it was the front bumper or the back. I backed into a pole and dented in the rear bumper on my Excursion. The cheapest bumper I could find for it was about $450, so I took a port-a-power hydraulic ram and blocked it behind the dent and it pressed right out. There's a real small crease in the bumper, but it's now so small that I've decided that it's not worth replacing the bumper.
You may want to see if you can press out your existing bumper. They're actually rather thin for a truck bumper.

Have you seen the stuff from "Alien". They make custom bumpers that are Nuclear attack proof. They are functional and awesome looking. THere is an article in this months Diesel Power magazine. Other than that I don't know. I have to admit that I like the clean lines of the "sport truck" look such as roll pans and so forth but those Alien bumpers are wicked.
