Hey all, just looking for some guidance for my 1965 F100 2WD. Looking to rebuild the rear end and decoded as much as I could from the tag. Cougar/LTD II 1977-Early 1978 (2.50 gear 9in Non-Locking 28 Spline). Plan is 35 spline and 3.50 gears. Looking at different third members and suggestion on axles. I believe they are 32 7/16 Right 29 51/64 Left.
Check out Speedway for their complete 3rd members. Best deal I found for good quality, ready to run. I ordered my axles from Moser to my specs and had them within 10 days. Went together like butter and toast.
No factory 9" ever came with 35 spline axles, so if that's your plan, your carrier unit (posi) & axles will both have to be aftermarket items. As far as the Axles, there are many suppliers that can provide you with 35 spline axles. Strange, Mark Williams, Moser, Dutchman, Moser, Yukon, etc
Just curious though, just how much power are you making that you believe 35 spline axles are going to be necessary?
35 spline is way overkill, 31 spl will handle up to 750 HP and far less expensive. I will be running a 31 spl helical gear unit, they run about $350. My 400 will be pushing roughly 350 HP and 400 Ft lbs torque. https://www.ebay.com/p/20028784581
