Its all about being persistent. I have never paid more than the $5 per month. Ever.
In the past it was a fight and the terms for the $5 a month offer was only for a 6 month period so you had to do it twice a year. You called, they said that offer was no longer available, you said ill just cancel at which time they passed you to retention. All of a sudden the plan is available again and your good for another 6 months. Now the plan is good for a year, and for the last few renewals its been pretty simple to get it renewed at the same price. I have 3 separate accounts, one for the F-350, one for a head unit at my work and one in the wifes Subaru, all are $5 a month.
I stated with them when Sirius and XM were two separate companies in 2005. https://www.parksoffroad.com/prodrev...tradiomain.htm
After the review I gave the Sirius system to a friend and kept the XM. It was on a promotional account until maybe 2008 or so when I had to start paying. The head until and boom box is in the warehouse at work, use it every day still.
EDIT: I still get emails for the $5 a month special at least once a month, happy to screen shot and post the next one if it helps anyone get the better price.

Reason: add info
That's a good deal. I generally get music only. I've had everything in the past at different points and found that I just didn't use anywhere near what's offered.
I really only listen to several channels but it’s nice to have everything they offer.
Also, I’ve never watched any on the videos that SiriusXM offers on my iMac or iPad.
I hate dealing with them, one of the worst customer service companies ever. Every year I have to call, threaten to cancel if they don’t continue my $99 a year promo rate, and then renew when they agree. If they ever refuse to, then I’ll walk. I don’t think it’s worth any more than that. Never, never, NEVER, give them your credit card number. If you do, they’ll just auto-renew and auto charge you at the higher rate every year. getting them to change it is next to impossible.
Just did the chat and got it back to $6.00 and change for a year after having it go to $ 22.00 a month. Wasn't that hard on chat, and I like it, especially the old time radio shows and comedy.

Very cool.
Sounds like you received a great price just like me and I agree, the online chat I had was very pleasant and helpful which I prefer because I really don’t like talking on the phone.
I am pretty sure I am subsidizing you guys just paying $6 per month with my quarterly charges (:
Over all I have had pretty good luck dealing with them. No worse than my wireless carrier in some regards. Don't like not being able to cancel a contact except via phone. I have been dealing with them a long time, at least since my 2011 Mustang, perhaps earlier.
One of my favorite parts of ordering is I was able to NOT have sirius on my truck. Dealt with that garbage on my last car I bought off the lot, listened to it for maybe 10 minutes during the included trial and they sent me hundreds of letters with various offers and beggings to try to continue my subscription/get my payment info. Even if they did offer a service I wanted I'd refuse to use them on principle.
Pretty simple so far. My 90-day free trial expires next week and I received a promotion in the mail for $4.99/mth for 12 months. Went online and within 5 minutes secured the deal and never had to speak with anyone. I immediately went into my Google calendar and set up a reminder to renew/cancel the subscription in 52 weeks. I don't see the value in the product for my daily drivers, but for my dedicated Tow Vehicle it is nice to have when you are in the remote stretches on the way to our camping destinations. Looks simple enough to go to the website and cancel anytime, any problems and I will block my credit card.

make sure you cancel a few days early. They are notorious for charging your credit card a few days early when your promo period is about to end. They did that to me a few years ago. Now I use my phone or HD radio instead. There are a few HD radio stations in my area that are commercial free.
As for Sirusxm, I thought the audio quality was terrible in my truck. It sounded better than AM radio but not as good as standard FM. My phone and HD radio sound way better than anything sirusxm has to offer. I usually listen to music.

Just curious but you refuse to use them on principles?
