Towing Guide Error?

I'm referring to the 2017 RV & Trailer Towing Guide, specifically in regard to Ford's definition of Maximum Trailer Weight. Page 17 (Trailer Towing Selector) states that "Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight assumes a towing vehicle with any mandatory options, no cargo.....and driver and passenger (150 lbs. each)." Page 37 (Know Your Limits) on the other hand, states that Maximum Loaded Trailer Weight "assumes a towing vehicle with any mandatory options, no cargo.....and driver only (150 lbs.).

I found the same discrepancy in several other year guides, but the most recent guides 2020, 2021, and 2022 are consistent.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Seems like a little thing, but for someone who is very OCD about my towing weights, 150 lbs. makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for your help.

They probably just updated the guide for the later years.
You definitely are OCD!!!
It's just a guide, not someone holding a gun to you saying you better not deviate a single ounce!

OCD or not, the only place that 150 lbs makes a difference is in your mind. Nobody will ever check it and you can't feel it when towing. If you are that close to the maximum ratings, time for a larger tow rig anyway.

Brought this up to Brain, the head of north american marketing, he said they would fix it. That was 2 years ago.

Thanks Ron...I appreciate the reply. So I'm assuming he agreed that it was an error?

Oh, yes. He also said he would fix it. But so far nothing.

No where near my limits. Just like to know my numbers.

The numbers are there for a reason, which is why I pay attention to them. I've seen many set-ups rolling down the road over the years that are obviously not in compliance, and thereby unsafe. My OCD-ism gives me peace of mind.
