Can a ported vacuum switch cause long warm ups on a 1976 ford f-150 with 300

While I'm not sure, somehow I doubt it. Check the thermostat; it may be stuck open. How long is "long"? And what part of the world do you live?

Was it running ok until recently? Has your weather gotten cooler recently? Does the engine hesitate on acceleration, until the engine is at normal operating temperature? If so, that's just classic cold weather lean condition. Cold air is denser than hot air, so it's making your air/fuel mixture more lean. You probably know this, but carburetors cannot adjust the air fuel ratio like EFI does. Unlike EFI, your carburetor can't account for the engine, or more specifically the intake air temp, being at below normal operating temperature. So, the engine has to be warmed up longer before it runs correctly. If it persists once engine is at normal operating temp, then there's a problem. Your carburetor could need to be richened up, or you could have a vacuum leak.
