My stock headlights suck, and I have several marker lights out. What I’m looking for is a complete light replacement kit that won’t break the bank. I’ve looked at 100s of replacements but nothing that has good reviews. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I go LED? Stock? Also looking to get good fitting seat covers. Thanks in advance.
A few weeks ago I put OEM 2005 Motorcraft light assemblies in the 2001 using standard bulbs and it was a major improvement. Ordered from Riffraff full set and new adapter plugs.
I used a dermal cut disc, sanding wheel, and cutting bit for the fit job. Basic hand tools.
Job only took a few hours.
It confused my buddy that has a late 1999 as it looked almost stock, clear turning lenses instead of the amber. I had to tell him what I did to the truck.
Now I need to do something with the fog lights.
I was in the same boat and it seemed like every year at this time when it gets dark earlier I was looking for better headlights. Seems like all the lights have reviews that are all over the place and it’s hard to tell what to believe. I considered a light bar and I even bought an upgraded wiring harness that uses relays wired directly to the battery so that the bulbs get the full 12v because the stock harness goes through the switch and the voltage to the lights are apparently much lower. I never did install the upgraded harness but I picked up these lights off of Amazon and have been very happy with them. It’s basically been a year and no problems. Much brighter than stock. The low beam projectors have a sharp cutoff line like the newer vehicles which I probably need to adjust up a little more but still work great and the high beams put a ton of light down the road. Installation wasn’t too bad but the header panel needs to be trimmed a little. Unfortunately it looks like they are currently unavailable on Amazon but maybe someone else carried them or they will be back in stock at some point in the future.
