Apologize for the length of the post but some help would be appreciated. I have my wife’s car which is a 2018 explorer sport with 19,500mi, that was just at a dealer for warranty work for over a month. This work included hood replacement for corrosion issue, roof rail detachment, security keypad on door continuously flashing, explorer emblem Light in right passenger footwell not working, and tires at 3/32nds tread depth. After a fight with the dealer about warranty coverage, the vehicle is covered under warranty effective date is June 2019, so still covered under bumper to bumper. We picked up the vehicle on a Saturday and not far from the dealer the vehicle started having a fit. Traction control, hill decent, terrain management, abs, shifts hard, shuddering, stalling, check engine light. Call dealer They were already closed, got the vehicle home, can’t drive it without stalling but will sit and idle. I
called dealer they are booked till after January, and no help from ford customer care. The codes are mostly map related p0106, p0107,p0108, & p0109. Yes I’m aware of the tsb regarding 18-19 map sensors, but doesn’t seem to be the issue as I bought one and it did not correct the issue. Other codes were U codes in the abs, pscm, & ccm being u0401, u0415, u0418. When I remove the connector and terminals out of the sensor I get 5.03v on vref, 5.03v on map, 5.01v on iat. I don’t get any change when wiggling the harness, but don’t think I’m suppose to have voltage on the map or iat wires, no chaffing of the harness anywhere and no continuity between any other wires within the harness. My only other thought is that after the vehicle sat at the dealer with no hood on it for over a month in the weather that the pcm/ecu is shorted due to water intrusion. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thank you Sean.
It could be something as simple as the dealer not plugging or connecting something back in properly.
if it were me, I would just let the dealer take care of it so that he can't claim that someone else did something to it (trying to fix it) and now it's not covered.
drop it off at the dealer and get a loaner. Go to a different dealer if he's booked until February
