Y-Block Cam Question
My 55 has what I believe to be a 57 292 y-block in it.




The heads are 59 replacement low compression truck heads.



Head casting #

I was told it had a performance camshaft in it but it got 20” of vacuum at idle so I thinking it a stock cam.

I’ll try and upload a video of it idling so you can give it listen and tell me what you think.

Okay here is the video of the idle. The idle rpm was around 750 in the video.

It's possible it has an "RV" camshaft in it, made for torque, not HP. Sounds healthy!

If it has a factory cam the 57 was the best.. 20 inches is likely stock and should idle well at 550 rpm.
