Awhile ago my '16' did what yours did at the boat ramp.

I drove to a dump station with the 5th wheel turned off the truck and went into pay. When I came out I wanted to move the truck ahead a little. No start, no dash lights nothing, went under the hood wiggled, poked moved wires with no difference. As soon as I put my NOCO gb150 battery jumper on it it fired right up. Drove directly over to wally world replaced both batteries no more issues. There was no signs of a weak battery or dash battery light.

If possible next time it happens see if you can get a jump and see if it will fire right up. Just a thought.

Not sure if it was mentioned before I didn't read back. Did you check the big connection attached to the E brake bracket? People have had problems like this and that was also a place to look. Just unhook it and reconnect it. Just be careful not to bend the pins. Then secure it to a different spot.

On mine, the dash worked, stereo worked, all electronics worked...also I tried hooking up a battery charger/jumper to both batteries separately and neither option did anything.

Yup, unhooked that and rehooked it back up, and moved it up higher under the dash....did nothing to solve the problem.

So after a full day of it sitting outside, and me continuously trying different things throughout the day and nothing working...I was poking around under the hood and popped the cover on the fuse box in the engine bay on drivers side.. the box felt a little loose and I noticed that this little nut which looks to be connected to a ground wire of some sort was almost completely backed off...I snugged that nut up, went into the truck and she fired up like normal...I dont know if that was the problem or if that was just a coincidence..I left for the weekend in a different car so I haven't had a chance to really drive it around...so we will see.

I'm on a solar forum that is all DIY. 50% of the voltage issues are due to bad connections. People mating copper lugs to aluminum terminals without cleaning the terminal and applying an anti-oxidation paste, not torqueing fasteners down properly, or just not making good crimps. It wouldn't surprise me at all if your loose nut was the issue.

At least you didn't have a screw loose!

Anybody know what that "ground wire" actually is? I can't find anything online on what its purpose is?

Almost looks like a power feed for that fuse box. Put test light on it and see if you get 12V on it.

Good luck.
I had this EXACT thing happen to me on my 2016. The dealer knew of it via a technical bulletin. Well worth checking out.

So it has been about a month since I found that loose nut and snugged it down, have put about 700 miles on the truck since, and the issue seems to be gone.
