Nice truck. I know a lot of guys with that generation of 5.0 and they all have been happy. Water pumps seem to fail a little early. If you are even remotely mechanically inclined they are an easy fix. Mine is solid. I may be picking up a different noise than you are asking about but the noise I hear is near the top in the valve train and mine has done it for quite awhile then quits after a short while. Not sure if it just needs to run to get oil pumped up or what.
Is the sound you are asking about around the 18-19 second mark in your video when you move to the passenger side and then you hear it until the end of the video.

yes that’s the sound I was talking about. The water pump was just changed at 80k.
Mine was replaced around 80k also. Lol.
I tried to make a video of mine making that sound but the exhaust leak blocks you from hearing it. It is a different sound than my manifold is making. Seems to be more in the top end under the valve cover. Anyway if it’s the same mine has made that noise since I don’t even know when. Maybe since new. Just at first startup. Never got any worse and never gave me a problem. Good luck.

thanks for the info. I thought it was something in the top end as well but it went away so quickly I wasn’t sure.
I’d say it just takes a few seconds to get oil up there. Like i said previously… mine has made that sound for a long time with no issues yet. Hope that helps

It went away because the exhaust manifold expanded with heat and sealed the leak. Most likely the manifold to head gasket , possibly cracked manifold. Look closely all the way around where the manifold connects to the head for soot.

thanks. I looked pretty close when I checked the truck out but I’ll double check when I pick it up. From talking to everyone here it doesn’t sound like a serious issue anyway. Ill only be putting about 5-7k miles on it a year but still wanted to check it out thoroughly and make sure everything was solid. I have a ton of pictures I took as well I’m going to go through those again.
I use 5w20 full syn and change it every 10k. Last time I sent an oil sample out for analysis, it came back saying it had plenty of life left in it. And always a Motorcraft filter.

i usually run purolator boss but will probably switch to motor craft. I’ll stick to my 5k oil changes especially since it will probably only be an annual oil change.
