Pulled these yesterday, and i was not expecting them to be this horrible. Mileage unknown, the other three looked like normal plug wear. The bad ones shown in photo came from 3,5,6 cylinders. I dropped the middle plug shown in photo, so the gap wasnt much.
anyone experience plugs this bad on their 300 six? Its a 96. Truck seemed to run fine prior to taking them out.
Honestly, I'd guess you've got some blowby in your engine, with deposits like that. oooooooor, those plugs have just been in there since the dawn of time.
Just a guess, but I'd surmise that your engine spent alot of time just sitting at idle, to get deposits like that.

thats kind of what I expected. Guess ill be doing a pressure test next time i get around to messing with the truck. I sort of thought the piston rings would last longer than 214,xxx but i also dont know its full history.
Without sounding too stupid, what test would “confirm” a seal problem?
At the first startup of the day, have someone watch the exhaust pipe, or you watch it as someone else starts the truck. If you have a few seconds or more of blue smoke, you have bad valve seals.
