Hey Guys...
Got a 2000 Ranger off road auto with a 4.0. 24k.
I have a noise coming from the lower end of the motor that sounds like something is loose.
The service dept. at the dealership where I bought it tells me that its normal to hear that sound (they called it marbel clatter)
Any one heard of this before?????
I'm not buying that theory...
Yes, some of the 4.0Ls are known to have a marbling noise, and Ford says the same thing to everyone about it ...don't worry (yea I know, easy for them to say .. )
You might want to read through this past thread on the subject:
Thanks for the quick response... I guess I have to live with it...
on another note: is it normal for the power window on the drivers side to rattle when its rolled down??
Does it rattle when (1) it is in the process of being put down, or (2) when it's already all the way down and you are driving around?
If (1), then you can try lubricating the window tracks with silicone spray or something like that, but you might end up having to replace the tracks, which is what Ford recommends.
If (2) then it sounds like you have a loose bolt or something which is allowing the assembly inside the door to rattle. You will have to pull the door panel off to check it.
thanks.....I'll give that a try...
Anyone out there know of a place that sells stripe kits for Rangers. I have a white step side and I want to "cool it up"
I've noticed my 2002 3.0 makes a lot of noise underneath
when the AC or defroster/heat are on. I can understand
the A/C having an effect...but the defroster??
Anyway...I don't know if that's your problem, or you're
hearing it all the time.
>>Actually, when your defroster is on, your A/C runs as well. It's part of the way the climate control system works.<<
Somehow the word "efficiency" doesn't come to mind.
At least that explains it. Trucks makes a rattling
underneath whenever the climate control is on.
It's only something I noticed while parked.
I was aslo wondering why the truck seems to hesitate
a bit going uphill with the defroster on. Since the AC
compressor is also on, I suppose that makes more sense.
