Hi everyone, so my month old F250 King Ranch needs the dash pulled to fix the a/c. Has anyone ever had the dealer pull the dash and had problems after? Im **** about rattles etc anyways and am fearfull itll be a mess. Thanks!
What is your greater concern? The prospect for rattles or the guarantee of no A/C? Whether you end up with a rattle depends upon the competence of the technician to follow the manual with attention to detail. They don't want a come back so unless you get a dunce, they're probably paying attention to the job.
I know, I already thought of that. Just called back and they have a senior tech on it and they agreed they didnt want any issues for me. I told them one scratch, etc and I wont be too happy and they agreed. Just a crappy feeling seeing as Ive only had it a month!
I completely understand the concern, every service repair is a stressful experience for me, especially something that invasive. But the reality is that you are at the mercy of the tech working on it. One owners experience at their dealership won't necessarily mean yours will be the same. It can go either way.
You can respectfully voice your concern to the service advisor and hope for the best.
I had a A/C warranty repair done at 9k miles, fortunately it was all under the hood work (compressor and condenser). Prior to verifying the problem it was meantioned if such and such part needs replacement then the dash needs to be taken apart. What failed on your truck?
Aparently the evaporator was no good. I was hoping it was something under the hood, but nope. They said parts should be in monday or tues and I should have it back thursday or friday. Ill be going over everything with a fine tooth comb before I leave!

Ahh, that would do it.
My repair didn't go completely problem free, but I'll spare the details since it's not the same, and ultimately results depend on the tech doing the work.
Things can go wrong, but they don't want a warranty come back. If they do an unsatisfactory job, the come back is on their dime. But I'm like most in that I don't want to be in a relationship with a dealer's service department. The wife's car had a bad evap that required the dash to come out. No issues whatsoever a year later.
Its already there, been there 3 days. I had the option to pick it up today until the parts come in but seeing as i already have the loaner i said just keep it. If theres any damage i will be demanding they fix it.
I had to have this done to one of my Raptor's. It was very stressful, but I met with the tech that was doing the work and slipped him $50 to take good care of everything and gave him another $50 when I picked it up. Shouldn't have to be that way, but it meant something to him and he took good care of her

Thats not a bad idea. I called and am going to pick it up tomorrow, so as to take a ton of photos and a "walk around" video and if im lucky speak with the tech whos doing it. Ill schedule the job soon. It shouldnt have to be this way, and I can only hope whoever does it would take as much care and pride as it was there own. Tough to find that now a days.
I told them one scratch, etc and I wont be too happy and they agreed.

wow really? what would you expect them to do?
your truck broke, let them fix it. if there is a problem afterwards, they'll address it. I can imagine the worlds biggest eye roll from the dealership, dont be 'that guy'.
my sunroof thing broke in my 150 they had to take out the seats, console and all the trim panels and roof panels, took 4 days.
looked pretty scary all apart on a shelf, but ti went back all GOOD and no issues. of course get nervous, but let them do their job and address any issues if you find them after wards
you bet there are techs that are less than perfect, but most are pretty good, at least around here anyways

I totally get that, and im not trying to be "that guy". Just brings back bad memories. My 2017 F250 needed the windshield pulled to re seal and the dealer I used at the time left it outside all weekend with no windshield in a rainstorm. No joke! That interior was toast. Im def being nice as none of it is their fault, ive just read horror stories about things like this. I do believe being nice is the best idea⁹
