The original lock would not unlock with the key..nor would the **** release the lock from the inside. The only way to unlock from inside was to use the inside handle. Put a new lock and clips from LMC...Same problem..Any suggestions ?.Truck never wrecked or damaged..???...Thanks..Jerry.....................
No easy way, you are going to have to tear it apart and probably all it needs is lube in the right places. There is also the possibility there is a linkage rod that is disconnected.
Mr. Franklin..Thanks for the reply..I'm second owner..for 15 years.... of this truck..I lubed it..checked for anything loose. Tried lock again...then called my Mercedes mechanic. Goes to his shop Monday morning.... Things like this just infuriate me..so I MUST get it fixed...I appreciate all the help I have received on the Forum. I posted the interior shots of my Bronco bucket interior....and my matching trailer...jv...
I am going to say its in the latch assy.
You need remove it and clean it of old grease & dirt then lube and re-install.
Before installing you should be able to test it on the bench.

Dave...UPDATE !!..Called LMC Monday to check on replacement lock. Finally got to a person in Cust. Service who said that the "call center operator" had no right to send anything..to anyone. I think they are out of the USA !..So..this new person said they needed more info. before they would send the info. to the higher ups to see if I was to get a new lock , SO..I'll call back on Wednesday. I think this is the last purchase from LMC..one way or the other.I was part owner of Brooklands in Florida. We imported AC Cobra and GT40 parts from the ORIGINAL makers in the UK..along with British spares. Carroll Shelby was a customer..so I know a bit about Fords. We also owned the original molds for the Mark 1 and Mark 3 GT40 cars. ..and made 11 GT40 replicas..and 44 Cobra replicas..Later...j..
LMC just called. They will send a new lock..no charge...today. They said the Cust. Serv. Dept OKed it..Will post when it gets here..So far..So good..
I'm curious to see how you make out, my truck is doing the exact same thing but it's a 1980 with the sliding locks so finding a new replacement latch isn't happening.
